LIFE IS MUSIC!

I started playing the piano in earnest at age four by learning "Alley Cat" and "The Pink Panther". Been a fan of Henry Mancini ever since. Started composing at age ten. McCoy and Chopin, Chick and Lizst, Herbie and Bach. Figured out I could speed things up and skipped the last year of high school upon acceptance at the university in composition.Funny how as I get older, I wish I could slow things down.

STORIES WITH AND WITHOUT PIANO

I’ve created a concert of piano pieces and stories called “Stories With and Without a Piano.” The program of primarily original compositions with classical and jazz piano in the mix is about an hour and a half with an intermission.

The stories are from my life and travels. I’ve was keyboardist and music director for Joe Cocker for 13 years and keyboardist in the soul-funk band Tower of Power for 11 years, traveling to 70 countries over a period of several decades.

Ich begann im Alter von vier Jahren ernsthaft Klavier zu spielen und lernte "Alley Cat" und "The Pink Panther". Seitdem bin ich ein Fan von Henry Mancini. Im Alter von zehn Jahren begann ich zu komponieren. McCoy und Chopin, Chick und Lizst, Herbie und Bach. Ich fand heraus, dass ich die Dinge beschleunigen konnte und übersprang mein letztes Jahr an der High School, als ich an der Hochschule für Komposition angenommen wurde. Komisch ist, je älter ich werde, desto mehr wünsche ich mir, dass Dinge langsamer laufen.

GESCHICHTEN MIT UND OHNE PIANO!

Ich habe ein Konzert mit Klavierstücken und Geschichten unter dem Titel "Stories With and Without a Piano" zusammengestellt. Das Programm mit hauptsächlich Originalkompositionen und einer Mischung aus klassischem und Jazz-Klavier dauert etwa eineinhalb Stunden mit einer Pause.

Die Geschichten stammen aus meinem Leben und von meinen Reisen. Ich war 13 Jahre lang Keyboarder und musikalischer Leiter von Joe Cocker, 11 Jahre lang Keyboarder der Soul-Funk-Band Tower of Power und habe über einen Zeitraum von mehreren Jahrzehnten 70 Länder bereist.
