I'm Agata Lo Monaco and I've spent my whole life following what makes my heart beat, and photography has always been at the forefront. 

I have lived and worked as a photographer in Italy, Spain and now in Germany. 

I am curious by nature and have an inquisitive mind. I have explored cultures and places, and in my photojournalism I have had the opportunity to photograph very delicate situations. For that you need a very strong empathy, respect and humanity that not everyone can show. For me, that is the basis of my work!   When I decide to tell a story (documentary, photo reportage), first of all I never bring my camera, but only the intention to fully perceive the atmosphere of the place and get in touch with the people. 

For me it is essential to meet people with dignity and respect. It is important to gain their trust and overcome any limitation to make a reportage as honest and real as possible.   My spirit naturally allows me to create strong bonds.

Ich bin Agata Lo Monaco und ich habe mein ganzes Leben damit verbracht, dem zu folgen, was mein Herz zum Schlagen bringt, und die Fotografie stand immer an erster Stelle. 

Ich habe als Fotografin in Italien, Spanien und jetzt in Deutschland gelebt und gearbeitet. 

Ich bin von Natur aus neugierig und habe einen wissbegierigen Geist. Ich habe Kulturen und Orte erkundet und hatte in meinem Fotojournalismus die Gelegenheit, sehr heikle Situationen zu fotografieren. Dafür braucht man eine sehr starke Empathie, Respekt und Menschlichkeit, die nicht jeder vorweisen kann. Für mich ist das die Basis meiner Arbeit!   Wenn ich mich entschließe, eine Geschichte zu erzählen (Dokumentarfilm, Fotoreportage), bringe ich zuallererst nie meine Kamera mit, sondern nur die Absicht, die Atmosphäre des Ortes voll wahrzunehmen und mit den Menschen in Kontakt zu treten. 

Für mich ist es wesentlich, den Menschen mit Würde und Respekt zu begegnen. Es ist wichtig, ihr Vertrauen zu gewinnen und jede Einschränkung zu überwinden, um eine Reportage so ehrlich und echt wie möglich zu gestalten.   Mein Geist erlaubt es mir auf natürliche Weise, starke Bindungen zu schaffen.
